Yeah But...

"Teacher,” they said, “we know that you speak and teach what is right and are not influenced by what others think. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us—is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” Luke 20:21 (NLT)

Jesus is in the middle of a discourse with the Pharisees. These guys (The Pharisees) have come to grips that Jesus is solid on the truth, so they try to undercut him with a secular argument as a way to bring controversy to his teaching.

This story made me think about how we sometimes approach the truth. I mean we see Jesus' message as the way the truth and the life, but there's still one thing that holds us back from believing it wholly and completely. Like the Pharisees we like to hold on to our old ways and beleifs so badly that we can't seem to fully invest in the whole truth because it will cost us something, but in all truth, following Christ will cost us something, it should cost us everything, because that's the price He paid for us. I don't know, I guess its just something to think about.
