Help me

"The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:22 (NLT)

This man's reply to Jesus in this story is extremely honest (Bear in mind, that Jesus' followers were not able to help this man so his faith took an even bigger hit). His answer is a reflection of an internal struggle that He's making Jesus aware of. The battle between what he wants to believe and what he really believes.

This battle is a battle we all struggle with. A battle that if we are not careful we can lose very quickly. This man had nothing to lose, and wanted his son to be healed so desperately he poured his heart out to Jesus.

What did Jesus do? He responded. He healed this man's son and in turn restored his faith. I wonder how many of us had other people pray for our situation only to see it get worse, until we were shaken to the very foundation of our faith. Don't lose faith. Jesus is looking to help our unbelief and restore the faith in Him we always intended to have.
