Show Love

"Brothers, do not grow weary in doing good." 1 Thessalonians 3:13 (HSBC)

There comes a point in our lives where we will have a choice to extend good to another or evil. It's quite easy to be nice and affable to others when things around us are good. But what about when they turn bad? When the circumstances around us are such where the more good we do the worse it gets?

I love the verse that says, "Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21) The bible is transcendent in its ways, but also quite paradoxical. It instructs us to guard against the tendency of treating people how they may deserve, embrace those who do evil to us, and to treat them well despite how we feel. The measuring stick? Jesus. For after all He endured leading to His death on the cross He would show goodness in the highest regard as He said, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." Instead of hurling much deserved insults, He chose to show us love. Let us purpose in life to do the same.
